Why it's free
Running Pinitto costs us about 150 € a month. The amount stays about the same no matter how many communities use it.
Alpha testing
In 2026 and 2027 we're testing Pinitto with several communities. What their members tell us helps us decide where Pinitto goes next.
Public good
If the testing goes well, we plan to move Pinitto into a non-profit. Something useful to your community shouldn't depend on a for-profit company.
Being useful
Setting a price for Pinitto affects how useful it is to your community and the quality of the service we can provide.
Frequently asked questions
Will it stay free?
Yes. There is no paid plan and there never will be.
Why do we have to ask before going past 10 members?
Before a community opens up, we check that its wiki has a few pages and there are already things to borrow, so nobody arrives to find it empty. The limit also means nobody can use Pinitto to send invitations in bulk.
What happens to our data if Pinitto shuts down?
Every member gets at least three months' notice by email. Members can export their own data at any time from the settings page. Once the three months have passed, all data will be deleted.
